This app has real limits — understanding them could matter for your safety:
It can only listen for your codeword while this browser tab is open and your screen is on. It cannot listen with the screen off or the app closed.
It cannot control your phone's built-in camera or voice recorder app — no app can do that. Instead, it has its own recorder built in below.
No app can send a file directly to 911 — that channel doesn't exist for any app. When recording starts, a one-tap "Call 911" button appears instead — it still requires your tap to actually place the call, which is a deliberate safety choice: automatically completing a call from a possible false trigger could cause real problems.
An optional trusted contact can get a pre-filled SOS text (with your location, if allowed) ready to send in one tap — this also requires your final tap to send, for the same reason.
Your phone/browser will always show a visible microphone or recording indicator whenever recording is active — this can't be hidden, by design, for your protection against secret surveillance too.
All recordings, reports, and your trusted contact are stored only on this device — nothing is ever uploaded anywhere.
Recording laws vary by state — most states only require your own consent (you're a participant), but about 12 states require the other person's consent too. Many of those states have specific exceptions for domestic violence situations. If you want certainty for your situation, a local DV advocate or attorney can advise quickly.
This is not a substitute for calling emergency services yourself. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number) if it is safe to do so.
